The Reigate hoard was found on 31 October 1972 in Wray Lane, Reigate, Surrey. It contained 136 gold and 6,567 silver coins, the earliest coins were groats and half-groats of Edward Ill's Pre-Treaty Coinage, series C, struck from 1351 and the latest, a group of Leaf-Pellet groats of Henry VI. It is estimated that the deposition date was around c.1454-5.
