Henry VIII Silver Testoon
Southwark
mm. S
7.78g 33.2mm
Spink - 2367
North - 1842 Rare
Obverse:
HENRIC 8 D G AGL FRA Z HIB REX. Facing bust.
Reverse:
CIVITAS LONDON. Crowned rose between crowned H R.
A few light marks otherwise good fine or better and toned. Substantial eye appeal being struck on a neat, round and problem free flan, which is considerably rare for this denomination. As Jacob notes "the majority of the testoons were badly struck and close study is frequently impossible, or at best, difficult on account of this poor striking".
