Obverse:

HEN[RI]CVS. Crowned bust, looking three quarters l, sceptre in right hand.

 

Reverse:

SAIET ON PIN[C]E. Quadrilateral with curved sides, lis at each angle over cross fleury.

 

Weakly struck in part otherwise very fine. There are only three examples of this moneyer/type listed in EMC/SCBI, and only one reverse die with this reading is recorded by Harvey (die e) which, unfortunately, is not illustrated.

The Pimprez hoard was discovered in the village of Picardy, Northern France in 2002. It consisted of 569 silver coins, 446 of which were pennies from the reigns of Henry I and Stephen. It was likely deposited around 1140.
