Obverse:
EDWARD DEI GRA REX AIIGL Z FRAIIC D HYB. King standing facing in a ship, sword in right hand, shield in left. E's and C's broken at bottom.
Reverse:
IHE AVTEM TRAIICIEIIS P MEDIVM ILLORVM IBAT. Floriated cross with lis terminals, lions between with crowns above, all within tressure of eight arches. E to centre.
A few scuffs on the reverse and some minor edge dings otherwise better than very fine and a lovely example in hand. This obverse die is seemingly exceedingly rare, it displays the full EDWARD title unbroken, after the forecastle, which is not represented in the British Museum collection and is unlisted in L. A. Lawrences’ extensive die study for this series. Lawrence was able to located one other die with this rare depiction, but that of series F (die AM). This reverse die, with E for C in IHC is listed by Lawrence as number 62 and is represented in the Schneider collection, paired with a different, more standard series E obverse, number 25.
