Ex Beauvais Hoard

The Beauvais Hoard was discovered in or around Paris and comprised 339 coins, the majority of which were issues of Stephen and Henry I. Most of the hoard, consisting of 303 coins, was sold at the Glendining's auction held on 4 November 1987. A further 36 coins, some notable for their rarity and/or exceptional condition, were disposed of privately. These additional coins are mentioned in the introduction to the hoard in the Glendining's catalogue, the present coin is likely number 32.
